Derek M. Norman is an American journalist, writer and photographer. He was born and raised on the Connecticut shoreline and has lived in New York City for the past decade.
He works on staff at The New York Times, currently focused on audience for the International desk’s coverage.
At The Times, he has covered New York City, the impact of the coronavirus on county jails, state prisons and federal detention centers across the country, as well as the impact the pandemic had on local public health departments.
He has travelled across the United States and practiced street photography in countries across several continents, including South and Central America, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
